AromaCalmXtrem: the aromatic synergy that soothes the body and mind

Did you know that 77% of Canadian adults report feeling stressed at least once a week? Between professional, family, and social responsibilities, our nervous system often finds itself in a state of constant alert. It is to address this real need for well-being that Clinique Lafontaine launched AromaCalmXtrem, an essential oil blend designed to restore calm and mental clarity, while relaxing the muscles.   What is AromaCalmXtrem? AromaCalmXtrem is an exclusive blend of four essential oils selected for their complementary effects: Essential oil Featured Molecules Key Benefits Grapefruit(Citrus grandis) Limonene Elevates mood, helps to normalize Petitgrain bigarade(Citrus aurantium) Linalool Rapid anxiolytic effect, promotes concentration Palmarosa(Cymbopogon martinii) Geraniol Deep relaxing, support for cortisol regulation Peppermint(Mentha piperita) Menthol Calms the central nervous system, relieves cranial tension Thanks to this combination, AromaCalmXtrem acts simultaneously on the mind (anxiety reduction, mental clarity) and on the body (release of muscle tension). The science behind every drop Linalool (Petitgrain) Recent studies show that linalool, the main component of petitgrain, modulates neurotransmission and promotes parasympathetic dominance, resulting in a measurable decrease in depressive and anxious behaviors in animals – an effect transferable to humans through aromatherapy. Limonene (Grapefruit) D-limonene has demonstrated antidepressant properties by reducing anhedonia and modulating neuroinflammation in chronic stress models, confirming its reputation as a natural mood booster. Geraniol (Palmarosa) A 2024 study reveals that geraniol normalizes EEG, regulates serotonin, and restores antioxidant levels, thereby reducing anxiety behaviors induced by acute stress. Menthol (Peppermint) In a randomized clinical trial, inhalation of peppermint oil significantly lowered anxiety scores in hospitalized patients, confirming its calming effect while improving comfort.   Four ways to incorporate AromaCalmXtrem into your routine 1. Atmospheric diffusion Add 5 to 8 drops to your diffuser and enjoy a serene atmosphere for 30 minutes. Ideal before bedtime for a more restful sleep. 2. Quick Inhalation Pour 2 to 3 drops on a tissue, then breathe deeply about twenty times; perfect before a stressful meeting or on public transport. 3. Targeted topical application Mix 3 drops into ½ teaspoon of vegetable oil and massage the solar plexus, the nape of the neck, or the wrists for a prolonged effect throughout the day. 4. Relaxing bath Dilute 5 drops in a handful of sea salt or a neutral dispersant, then let the warmth of the water enhance the neuromuscular action of the mixture.   Precautions & Best Practices Driving : Avoid using AromaCalmXtrem while driving, as its sedative effects may reduce your alertness. Pregnancy & Infants : as with any essential oil, avoid use during the first trimester and in babies under three months old. Medical advice : this product does not replace professional consultation if you suffer from anxiety disorders or chronic conditions.   Make an appointment with inner calm Whether you are a therapist looking for a reliable tool for your clients, or simply seeking a wellness ritual at home, AromaCalmXtrem easily fits into your daily routine. 5 astuces pour garder vos draps plus longtemps!

5 tips to keep your sheets longer!

It is no secret, but the maintenance of sheets and towels used during massages and treatments involving oil can quickly become a hassle. Indeed, the appearance of oil stains, a persistent rancid odor, or a heaviness or damp feeling even after the sheets have dried is the daily reality for massage therapists and other health and wellness specialists. Obviously, all textiles have an average lifespan, but it is possible to extend it by adopting certain best practices when purchasing and caring for them. That’s why we present to you our 5 tested and approved tips to maximize the lifespan of your sheets and towels.   1. CHOOSING THE RIGHT FABRIC AND COLOR This point may seem obvious, but choosing a quality fabric and an easy-to-maintain color will significantly increase the lifespan of your textiles. Therefore, prioritize a fabric with a tight weave and a solid color that is easy to care for, such as beige, blue, or black. Also, consider selecting a fabric that will remain soft after multiple washes to maintain the essential comfort for your customers.   2. CHOOSE THE RIGHT MASSAGE OIL The choice of oil used can also make a big difference. Indeed, the lighter and more penetrating the oil chosen, the less risk you have of staining your sheets. Therefore, avoid greasy oils that have a higher density.   3. WASH QUICKLY AND EFFECTIVELY Don't forget to treat your oil-stained sheets and towels quickly. The longer you wait, the deeper the oil penetrates the fabric fibers, making it harder to remove. Recommended procedure:Pre-treatment: Soak dirty fabrics in warm soapy water for 30 to 60 minutes. Washing:Use an effective laundry detergent, such as the professional degreasing detergent ProTextile+Bio, and for stubborn stains, add the concentrated stain remover Florisa. Do not overload the washer to ensure effective cleaning. Washing temperature: When washing your sheets and towels, it is important to pay special attention to the washing temperature. When machine washing, it is important to opt for a high water temperature. Indeed, this will effectively dissolve the greasy molecules in the fabrics. On the contrary, cold water will trap them in the weave, which will accelerate the degradation process of your textiles and promote the appearance of oil stains and a characteristic odor. Whenever possible, prioritize washing sheets using hot water. However, choose a cold wash cycle for towels. Adjust the method based on the amount of oil on your fabrics.  Rinse:A double rinse is recommended to remove any oil or soap residues. Repeat if necessary if stains persist.    4. DRYING: SAFETY FIRST Drying is an important and sometimes risky step if not done properly. Did you know that textiles still soaked with oil can pose a fire hazard if placed in the dryer? We recommend drying your sheets in the open air, with ventilation or a dehumidifier. If you absolutely must use the dryer, be cautious: Do not tumble dry textiles that still contain gel, cream, or oil. Before each dryer cycle, clean the filter and wash it regularly with soapy water. Avoid using fabric softener sheets, which can clog the filters. After drying, remove the sheets immediately to prevent any heat buildup.  To learn more about the risks associated with the dryer and download ourcheat sheet , read our Blog article: prevent-fire-safety-tips-for-using-your-dryer   5. USE THE RIGHT CLEANING PRODUCTS To successfully remove as much oil as possible from your fabrics, make sure to use a degreasing detergent with every wash. This type of detergent, specially designed for washing machines, combined with the action of hot water, will eliminate the majority of stubborn oil deposits. Additionally, to ensure you remove as much oil as possible, use a stain remover containing sodium carbonate and enzymes on the most heavily soaked areas of your sheets. Indeed, by applying a stain remover before each wash, you will prevent excessive oil buildup in the sheets and significantly extend their lifespan. In conclusion, it is impossible to completely free yourself from the buildup of oil on your sheets and towels. However, by ensuring you have an effective and consistent cleaning routine, you will greatly extend the lifespan of your textiles. BONUS: HOW TO FOLD FITTED SHEETS TO MAKE STORAGE EASIER  We know that folding a fitted sheet is always tricky. The set isn’t flat, it stacks poorly, and it looks less neat.  But we have found the optimal way to fold these tricky sheets for you!  Method to follow: Hold the fitted sheet in front of you, with the elastic side facing you. Hold the inside of the top corners with both hands. Place the right corner over the left corner and hold the top of the sheet with your right hand. Do exactly the same with the two corners on the other side of the fitted sheet Fold these two corners into the other two, bringing the four corners to the same side. Place the sheet, smooth it out, and fold it as often as you like.

Ravintsara et Ravensare : guide pour ne plus les confondre

Ravintsara and Ravensare: a guide to stop confusing them

The Orthocure essential oils range is expanding with the arrival of Ravintsara essential oil(Cinnamomum camphora L.). But maybe you're saying to yourself: " I thought I had déjto seen this name on the website or in store at Clinique Lafontaine?  » And you are almost right! There are indeed two essential oils with very similar names: Ravintsara, our new arrival, and Ravensare. Although they are sometimes confused, these two oils come from different plants and each has distinct properties. Learn to discover Ravintsara essential oil Highly valued in aromatherapy, Ravintsara essential oil (Cinnamomum camphora L.)is a must-have in your family first aid kit. It is particularly effective for supporting the respiratory tract and strengthening the immune system, especially in cases of colds, ear infections, or sinusitis. This oil stands out for its antiviral properties, its ability to stimulate the mucous membranes, and to thin secretions, thereby promoting freer breathing. Rich in 1,8-cineole, it helps clear the respiratory tract and relieve discomfort associated with seasonal infections. Obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of a camphor tree grown in Madagascar, Ravintsara essential oil (Cinnamomum camphora L. ) takes its name from the Malagasy Ravintsara, which means "good leaf". She stands out for her great effectiveness, especially when used in synergy with other essential oils, such as eucalyptus radiata (Eucalyptus radiata), the eucalyptus globulus (Eucalyptus globulus ), Bay Laurel ( Laurus nobilis) and the black spruce (Picea mariana). Together, these essences mutually enhance their action, providing a more powerful natural support for the respiratory and immune systems. Main uses for external application of Ravintsara essential oil Helps fight pathogenic bacteria, viruses, and fungi Strengthens natural defenses (notably against herpes, flu, and gastroenteritis) Facilitates expectoration and breathing in case of congestion Note:Although it is suitable for most of the family, it is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as children under 3 years old. However, it can be used from the 4th month of pregnancy in baths, diffusion, or inhalation, as well as in topical application, provided it is diluted to 5%. Ravensare: an oil with calming and anti-inflammatory properties Are you wondering how to easily differentiate these two essential oils with such similar names? The simplest way is to check their Latin name, which reveals their botanical origin. Indeed, although their names are similar, Ravensare essential oil(Ravensara aromatica)comes from a different plant than Ravintsara(Cinnamomum camphora L.), and their uses are not interchangeable. It remains a precious oil in aromatherapy, recognized for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antispasmodic, relaxing, antiseptic, and immune-stimulating properties. Main uses for external application of Ravensara essential oil Helps relieve inflammatory pain related to arthritis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatism Promotes muscle relaxation and mental letting go Contributes to the treatment of skin infections Supports the body in cases of bronchitis, flu, infections, or colds thanks to its immune-boosting properties Note : Ravensara essential oil, although extracted from the leaves of a Malagasy tree like Ravintsara, is not recommended for children under 6 years old. Even though Ravintsara and Ravensare have similar names and both come from Madagascar, their properties and uses differ significantly. Ravintsara is essential for supporting the immune system and respiratory tract, while Ravensare is known for its calming and anti-inflammatory virtues. Would you like to know more? Massage therapists, avoid the dryer and reduce the risk of fire !

For months, an avalanche of claims has been filed with insurance companies for dryer fires. Massage gels, massage oils, massage creams and essential oils all present some level of flammability when exposed to high heat. That's why it's essential to do everything you can to degrease, dilute and remove these residues as much as possible. Indeed, dryers are among the leading causes of residential fires. According to data available in 2023, electrical appliances caused an average of more than 500 fires, often due to insufficient maintenance or improper use. Smoldering is the hidden enemy.  A fire forces the temporary closure of Nordique Spa Stoneham Often, there are oil residues in it [...] The sheets were washed, taken out of the dryer, placed on a table in the back, and then, during the night of December 2024, they caught fire. The fire spread to the walls, but its spread was limited to the laundry room. the assistant director of Nordique spa Stoneham explained in an interview with Radio-Canada. Slow burning : What is it ? Smoldering is a gradual heating without flames, often caused by piled or compressed fabrics after drying. This process can lead to a fire if the heat does not dissipate properly.  Washing and drying instructions 1. Preprocessing : Soak the oil-stained sheets and towels in hot, soapy water for 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the degree of soiling. 2. Washing : Use a laundry detergent together with an effective degreaser, such as a professional degreaser detergent ProTextile+Organic and for stubborn stains, combine it with Florisa concentrated stain remover. Prefer hot water for sheets and cold water for towels. Do not overload the washer to ensure effective cleaning. Some massage therapists prefer to use other products to remove oil, such as vinegar, sodium percarbonate, Tide Ultra Oxy, etc. The important thing is that you find a solution that works for you. 3. Rinse : Effectuez un double rinçage pour éliminer tout résidu d'huile ou de détergent. Si des traces persistent, répétez le lavage. 4. Drying :  Never dry textiles that have traces of oil, cream, massage gel, or flammable substances inside your dryer.  If you do not comply with the prohibition on drying textiles that have been in contact with the product in a tumble dryer, the textiles may ignite, either during drying or later if left in the dryer or piled with other textiles. Your security and that of your customers remain an absolute priority. Dryer fire: a New Brunswick woman lost everything Did you know that, according to Fire Chief Conrad Landry of Moncton, « it's almost always the same thing : we put out the fire, we check the hose and the lint filter, and they're full of lint. In 99 % of cases, that's the cause » ? According to firefighters, removing the lint from the dryer's filter after every cycle is the best way to prevent a fire in the machine. Train and raise awareness among your staff As a massage therapist, self-employed professional, or owner, following clear procedures and training your coworkers or staff in equipment maintenance is essential to ensure safety. A proactive approach reduces risks and protects your work environment. For any questions or additional advice on fire prevention, please consult the user guide for your washer and dryer and other relevant resources. Your safety and that of your customers remain an absolute priority. Optimisez votre espace : l'importance d’un présentoir professionnel pour vos produits

Optimize your space: the importance of a professional display for your products

As a therapist, you probably have a range of products that support your practice, whether it's essential oils, creams, massage accessories, or therapeutic tools. But have you thought about the impact of a well-organized display for your clients? A simple yet professional display can transform your customers' perception of your products. Here’s why investing in a display and taking care of the presentation of your products is essential to maximize your sales and enhance the customer experience. A professional display inspires confidence A well-designed display does not just make your products accessible; it shows that you are serious about your offering. A neat presentation gives a professional image, showing that the available products are not just there to decorate your space or for personal use, but are indeed at the disposal of your customers. Choose a minimalist design that seamlessly integrates into your clinic. A simple shelf or a small dedicated table may be enough, as long as it is well maintained. Clarity above all: an organized and visible display A tidy presentation is essential to attract attention. Align the products carefully and group them by categories (e.g. oils, accessories, creams). Each product should be easily accessible and clearly visible, without being drowned in a pile of items. Add a small label or display to indicate the product name if there is no label on it and its main benefits, while ensuring there is a clear price. This avoids any confusion for the customer who might think that these products are only reserved for the therapist's use. Why displaying a price is crucial A visible price makes a huge difference. It prevents your customers from having to ask if the product is on sale and how much it costs, a step that many are hesitant to take. Seeing the price at a glance allows them to consider their purchase immediately and spontaneously. Tip: use price tags handwritten or printed that fit the overall style of your display. This ensures visual consistency. You can use the detail prices displayed on each product page or on the price list available in the professional section. Create a spontaneous buying opportunity A well-placed display in your space can stimulate impulse purchases. Position it in a strategic location, such as near the reception, on your desk, or in a waiting area, where your customers will have the time to notice it. This increased visibility enhances the chances that your products will catch their attention and prompt questions that will lead to a purchase. Enhance the perception of your expertise When your customers see the products you use and have the opportunity to purchase them, it reinforces their perception of your expertise. They see that you choose quality products, and they are more inclined to buy them to recreate the experience at home. In conclusion A basic display, but well thought out, can make all the difference in how your products are perceived by your customers. By displaying your products in an orderly manner, with clearly visible prices, you create a smooth and pleasant shopping experience while increasing your sales. Investing in a display is investing in your professional image and in your customers' satisfaction. So, what are you waiting for to take the plunge? This suggested display image comes from the Jessica Lauzon's Facebook. :)

L’ADN de la marque Bioterra
Produits

The DNA of the Bioterra brand

The Bioterra brand has been around for almost 20 years. It was initially created to provide hydrating, relaxing, and detoxifying skincare protocols for the face for massage therapists in clinics or spas. In 2008, a spa named Bioterra Urban Health Spa was born in Drummondville and the brand has made its mark. The spa won two major tourism awards and quickly established itself as one of the top 7 spas in Quebec in 2011. The concern brought to the product range was to achieve two goals: to have a small range of versatile skincare products that are suitable for all skin types and suitable for both men and women. The desire was to create a small range where several functions were performed by a single product. Moreover, facial and body care protocols are easy to execute and do not require any beautician training. Thus, massage therapists can offer a hydrating, relaxing, and detoxifying facial treatment in their service offerings and create packages with their massages. Of course, the execution of the facial massage makes this fabulous treatment a highly appreciated experience for customers. The selection of products from the face range  The skincare product line contains only 5 products and allows professionals, as well as clients, to achieve excellent results at very affordable prices. Moreover, it is a product from Quebec, but with a European-type formulation. The flagship product The Bioterra range undoubtedly includes the Revitalizing Cream, which is a real gem. This cream was formulated by a genius chemist who worked as a formulator at Dior for over 25 years. The results are fabulous! The hyperactive moisturizing renovating cream ensures long-lasting hydration, soothes, and softens the skin. It has a powerful anti-aging action thanks to its ingredients, including retinol palmitate. She is also an extraordinary topical support perfectly suited to the hydration needs and relief of acne-prone, eczematous, and psoriatic skin. This is thanks to the 100% pure micronized Canadian Moor natural extract, vitamin and mineral extracts, as well as the lavender it contains. She is excellent for relieving skin inflammation after shaving and protecting baby's little bottoms from diaper rash. It is very suitable for skin prone to couperose, dehydrated, stressed, and aging effects. The range also includes a gentle cleansing gel, an excellent exfoliant, a gel serum called Serogel, and the mud mask. The cleansing gel Sweet aromatic is recommended for all skin types, especially those that are dehydrated, tired, fragile, and sensitive. The cleansing gel Can be substituted for home care by the hydra-control cleansing bread (soap), composed among other things of mineral mud which is particularly recommended for dehydrated, oily, acne-prone or problematic skin. The Moor+ Facial Exfoliating Gel Has a deep-cleansing action that gives the skin a youthful and fresh appearance. By significantly reducing enlarged pores, it improves the skin's texture and ensures a perfect satin finish, thus reducing signs of aging. It removes dead skin cells and impurities, promoting maximum absorption of the active ingredients in other skincare products. The Serogel Contains active ingredients that act as a repairer, strengthen the skin structure, and stimulate the natural production of elastin and collagen. Facial care protocols are as versatile as they are versatile, allowing for the addition of essential oils depending on the case or the replacement of Serogel. Customers are literally immersed in a natural olfactory and tactile experience and amazing results. The Bioterra brand also offers body care. She is composed of 6 specific products: 1. a body mask (cream and powder), 2. Dermo-fitness serum, 3. slimming modeling cream, 4. massage emulsion, 5. exfoliant, and 6. Micro-sprayed algae. L’ADN de la marque Orthocure
Produits

The DNA of the Orthocure brand

The Orthocure brand has been around for 60 years now. It was created by Yves Paré, the first massage therapist-Orthotherapist to practice in Quebec. The name of the company, "Clinique Lafontaine," refers to the name of his care clinic. His European physiotherapy training has greatly influenced today's massage therapy practice. From the beginning of his practice, he integrated essential oils and dietary supplements imported from Europe. He was already practicing a holistic therapy long before the word became trendy. During the establishment of his first professional training school in massage therapy and Orthotherapy, he integrated the teaching of the use of essential oils and dietary supplements in care protocols, starting from level 1. The range selection. The objective in the selection was and still is to select the best oils for the required functions either according to the main functions or the specificities of the oils. The primary objective was efficiency. Then, he was concerned that the inventory of essential oils for therapists in the clinic be reasonable and that the essential oils be safe or that they do not bring or have little drug interactions or that they are not known to be allergenic. When he started providing essential oils to his students in 1976, he started with 10 essential oils With which he worked every day: Marjoram (Origanum majorana), eucalyptus (globulus), thyme (thymus vulgaris), sage (salva officinalis), lemon (Citrus limonum), orange (Citrus aurantium), geranium (Pelargonium graveolens), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), cypress (Cupressus sempervirens), and lavender (Lavandula angustifolia). Today, the range of selected essential oils consists of about thirty plants. It aims to cover all aspects of care in the clinic for all body systems and also aims to address everyday minor ailments. This selection also targets the simple use of essential oils at home by customers. Today, teaching the use of essential oils is accessible because scientific and clinical aromatherapy is taught in massage therapy schools. Clinicians therefore have access to scientific studies and literally dive into this wonderful and very effective world. The selection of suppliers: The original selection of essential oil suppliers was initially companies that grew their plants with the purpose of distilling them to obtain high levels of active ingredients in their essential oils. Let's remember that essential oil manufacturers, even today, produce essential oils for perfumery or therapeutic purposes. The choice has been made and still remains on production and distillation methods as well as on the analysis of active ingredients by batch manufacturing called chromatograph. Today, the use of essential oils has become so popular that they are sold in large retail stores. However, to achieve such competitive prices, they must dilute them, thereby diluting their effectiveness. To keep our prices low, we don't need to dilute our oils! In fact, as we have many new therapists joining Clinique Lafontaine every year, it allows us to purchase in larger quantities and therefore maintain our lowest prices for high therapeutic quality. Many European doctors and pharmacists are also aromatherapists. Yes, yes, aromatherapy is taught at university in Europe and many doctors and pharmacists become aromatherapists. Aromatherapy is also practiced in hospitals and even in oncology. Aromatherapy has proven its therapeutic benefits for many years and continues to gain ground each year as complementary care to medical treatments. Since we are passionate about natural care, therefore natural products, since we are on the lookout for the latest scientific research in the field, since we have a selection team for the best products: we are results-oriented. For 60 years now, Clinique Lafontaine has been providing natural health professionals in Quebec with all the care products necessary to achieve the highest standards of effectiveness. Whether it is essential oils, rubefacient (ointment) anti-inflammatories, massage oils, or others, all effective therapists use a range of professional care products to optimize clinical care. Professionally yours!

L’ADN de la marque Massokit
Produits

The DNA of the Massokit brand

The Massokit brand has been in existence for over 40 years now. The company registered at the time operated under the name "Les équipements Massokit". She was created out of necessity because the students, now graduates, of Yves Paré who became massage therapists or orthotherapists unfortunately did not have suitable or adapted massage tables for treatments. In short, it did not exist! Professionals of the time had to improvise and become craftsmen of their equipment. Mr. Paré gave them certain rules to follow, but very early on, he realized that some issues were arising with these rudimentary models, especially in terms of safety. Safety of the client of course, but also safety of the therapist. The range selection. In fact, it's hard to imagine, but no store was selling massage tables and the internet didn't exist. The equipment was created according to the therapists' needs at the request of Mr. Paré. The first massage tables, called treatment tables, since massage therapy began as a discipline in the market only from 1995 with the advent of spas in Quebec, were custom-made at the time, according to the size of the clients. From the very first tables, they were already making a sensation as they were made of metal, very sturdy, and had an inclined surface to use the clients' body weight to stretch the paravertebral musculature after the massage under heat. With the experience and history of therapists in the market who were developing back pain, we quickly realized that the width of the tables had a strong impact on the muscular health of professionals. So it was very early that Massokit Standardized the width of its tables to 28 inches. This observation was confirmed again when a survey was conducted in the mid-2000s among spa and clinic owners about the decrease in the workforce's ability to serve the same number of clients per day as when they were hired. The result was striking. The wider the massage tables, the more therapists were affected by back pain, and companies were greatly impacted by the increase in absenteeism rates and also by the rise in CNESST cases.   The evolution of processing tables In the first place, a manual adjustment of the height of the tables was made, a significant added value especially in clinics with more than one therapist, followed by an electric model and a mechanism to raise the legs, thus creating an exceptionally comfortable installation and a tool for circulatory disorders. A cervical headrest with an inclination angle ranging from very low to high according to the need was developed. With the arrival of the Californian massage where the clients' arms were placed along the body rather than forward for the Swedish massage, retractable side armrests have been added.
