Do not use the device in an environment where other devices are used that intentionally emit unshielded electromagnetic energy. Portable and mobile radio frequency communication equipment may interfere with electrical medical equipment.
• The Orthocollator heating device generates, uses, and may radiate radio frequency energy. If not installed or used properly, it may cause harmful interference to other devices in the vicinity. Reorient or relocate the receiving device, increase the separation between the devices, or connect the device to an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the other devices are connected.
• Do not use accessories other than those from the same range as Orthocollator or recommended by Clinique Lafontaine. The safety of other products has not been established and their use could injure a client.
• If there is a breakage, always replace with factory-approved parts.
• The device temperature is preset at the factory, so it is ready to use. Never set the thermostat to a temperature that is too high. The thermostat is extremely sensitive, and even the slightest adjustment will change the temperature by several degrees. The recommended operating temperature is between 71° and 74°C (160° to 165°F). The water temperature should be checked with a thermometer after each adjustment.
• Always completely cover Orthocollators (cushions) with water. Refill with water every day. Water evaporates continuously.
• Never allow Orthocollators (cushions) to dry out.
• Clean the tank periodically according to the instructions (see MAINTENANCE section).
• Always replace worn Orthocollators (cushions).
• Unplug the device, remove the Orthocollators (cushions), empty the water, and clean the tank if the device will not be used for a certain period of time.
• Do not move the appliance while it is filled with hot water. If it tips over, it could cause burns.
• Always unplug the appliance before emptying or filling it.
• Do not retrieve Orthocollators (cushions) from the reservoir with your bare hands.
• Always wrap Orthocollators (cushions) in a towel or, ideally, in the cover provided for this purpose.
• Check the pad frequently to ensure that the skin does not become too hot.
• Do not apply to desensitized skin or in areas with poor circulation. Do not use directly on cuts, abrasions, or wounds.
• Never lie down or sit on the cushion.
• Exercise extreme caution when using heating pads on individuals who are unable to communicate.
• Certain products added to the water (such as certain infusions or essences) can damage the appliance's components, thermostat, and stainless steel.
• Place the Orthocollators (cushions) in the device before filling it with water.
NOTE : Do not turn the rod inside. The Orthocollator heating device operates with a capillary hydraulic thermostat and can remain plugged in to ensure constant availability of the Orthocollator heating pad.
