L’huile essentielle de Sapin Baumier

balsam fir essential oil

The Balsam Fir is a conifer very popular in body therapy for its multiple benefits. Indeed, the essential oil extracted from it is very powerful.

It mainly works on three axes:

Emotional axis:

It is used in the emotional aspect, to relieve depressive states, improve psychological balance or simply to feel good.

It is most often paired with hemlock or black spruce for their concentrations of borneol and bornyl acetate.

It can also be supplemented with citrus to add the two active ingredients of limonene and citral. For this last function, it is the essential oil of lemon and/or Indian verbena which will be selected for a perfect synergy.

The formulation will be used in diffusion and/or massage. A 10% dilution in vegetable oil is indicated for massage.

Its pure diffusion is reminiscent of Christmases of yesteryear and is good for the soul. A few drops sprayed on the tree or diffused and voilà, we return to childhood.

Muscular and anti-inflammatory axis:

In the second axis of activity of the balsam fir, the essential oil is recognized for these properties:

  • Analgesic
  • Anesthetic
  • Analgesic
  • spasmolytic
  • Calming
  • Anti-inflammatory

Just like Scots pine and other conifers, these actions on joints and tendons have been observed on more than one occasion. By extension, the muscles also benefit.

It is in the treatment of arthritis and rheumatism problems that it has positioned itself as the essential oil of choice for degenerative musculo-articular care in topical application.

For these problems, a mixture of conifers in equal parts, favoring Scots pine and adding lemon, brings real added value to long-term joint care.

Respiratory axis:

In the third axis, it also effectively treats respiratory tract infections or inflammation of the respiratory mucous membranes by diffusion or dry or moist inhalation.
