The essential oil of wintergreen tea, also known as lying wintergreen is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory essential oils for inflamed muscles, joints and tissues since it mainly contains methyl salicylate like aspirin. Its effect is therefore spectacular both in acute phases and for degenerative problems.
It is interesting to know that a milliliter of essential oil of lying wintergreen is equivalent to 1.4 grams of aspirin, or almost 3 aspirins of 500 milligrams for a single milliliter.
Its most appreciated smell encourages us to put it everywhere and often. Its association with peppermint has been the subject of scientific studies and is considered very effective in the management of inflammatory pain.
Even if the lying wintergreen is considered the best muscle and joint pain reliever, use should be limited to the acute phase of your care, i.e. 8 to 10 days continuously. In the case of chronic pain, daily application is only done 5 days a week. It will also be necessary to dilute wintergreen to a maximum of 10% in a vegetable oil for local application, in order to avoid salicylate poisoning for your clients. just like for you.
Therefore, it is recommended to offer to sell the client a bottle of amber essential oil, containing the diluted mixture previously created, to allow them to continue the application at home between appointments. This will optimize the duration and effectiveness of your care.

- Sports (muscle preparation, recovery after exercise)
Proposed dilution method: For a 10% dilution, put 44 drops of wintergreen in an empty 15 ml bottle then fill the rest of the bottle with a neutral vegetable massage oil or gel.
Attention : For therapists who use it, it's important to remember that you also absorb salicylate. So if you use it several times a day, the restriction applies to you too. Do not hesitate to use gloves when applying it.
Despite the restrictions required for healthy use of this fabulous essential oil, it is definitely worth it for your clinical successes.
Here is a foolproof recipe that synergizes 4 wonderful complementary essential oils for cases that require a large surface area to cover, such as osteoarthritis, arthritis, etc.
- 12 drops of Wintergreen lying down (Gaultheria procumbens)
- 8 drops of Marjoram (Origanum majorana)
- 4 drops of Lemon (Citrus limonum)
- 1 drop of Pepper mint (Mentha piperita)
- In 250 milliliters of neutral vegetable oil

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE:
Do not use in people with eczema, asthma, ulcer, hiatal hernia, hemorrhage, or who have recently undergone or are to undergo surgery.
